Black women are disproportionately incarcerated across the US, and the impact is magnified as they are often the touchstone of family and community livelihood. The National Bail out campaign (@NationalBailOut) is raising funds and awareness about the disproportionate impact the US prison system has on black women. We speak with Mary Hooks (@Maryhooks), a member and co-director of Southerners on New Ground, dedicated to LGBTQ liberation across all lines of race, class, abilities, age, culture, gender, and sexuality in the South, and based in Atlanta GA.
